Hawick Cashmere is one of Scotland’s leading cashmere specialists. The Hawick Hosiery Company was founded in 1874 and traded until 1990 when The Hawick Cashmere Co. was established and created the brand

HAWICK CASHMERE

The Company headquarters is still based in the original nineteenth century Trinity Mill in Hawick, Scotland.

Hawick Cashmere is a founder member of the Scottish Cashmere Club and was a driving force behind the creation of the Cashmere Made in Scotland® trade mark and the exacting quality standards that it represents. All Hawick Cashmere products carry the Cashmere Made in Scotland® trade mark and as such have been made from the finest quality cashmere fibre available and to the highest standards of craftsmanship. Hawick Cashmere knitwear is available in many of the world’s leading specialty retailers and in the Company’s own stores, now numbering 12 with further expansion planned.

In the late 20th century, there was a revolution in electronic knitting machine technology. This radically changed design possibilities, previously only possible to produce by hand. Hawick Cashmere is recognised in the cashmere textile industry as having led the way in employing and improving this new technology, whilst retaining the traditional skills practised here for generations. The result has been the development in the manufacture of the Seamless Garment. The onset of this 21st century innovation, has had as big an impact on the production of high quality knitwear as the first knitting frames did 100 years ago.

Hawick Cashmere has seen many changes in fashion and manufacturing since its inception in 1990. Today, there are new forces in the marketplace, cashmere manufacturers who do not adhere to the same standards of quality and skill as Hawick Cashmere. As a privately owned company we take pride in protecting our reputation as one of the finest producers of cashmere in the world.
